New Interest Group for PMO

The new Specific Interest Group at the Association of Project Management, the PMO SIG, has actually been around for a while as a voluntary group. Created in 2000 the group have over 1000 members and host two conferences a year. Focused totally on PMO – Portfolio, Programme and Project Offices – the group brings together those that work in and manage PMOs from across the UK.

During the summer of 2011 the group started to become integrated into the APM. The APM already has 12 specific interest groups including governance, people, portfolio, earned value and so on. The PMO SIG becomes the 13th group. Anyone can join the specific interest groups at APM, you don’t need to be a member to be kep informed of work that is being actively carried out. Just register on the website (for free) and choose which group you would like to join from the community lists.

For the PMO SIG group you can gain access to all the back issues from the conferences. Materials include; the business driven PMOs; portfolio offices; P3O and PMO competencies. There is also the option to receive the monthly newsletter which features PMO news from around the UK and internationally.

PMO Leadership‘ is being held on the Tuesday 29th November at CAFOD in Westminster Bridge Road, London. Featuring Peter Taylor, the Lazy Project Manager, talking about his latest book, ‘Leading Successful PMOs’ and Anke Bysouth on the PMO journey at CAFOD.
