Project Management Framework Goes Open Source with the Praxis Framework

The Praxis Framework is a significant new development in the field of project, programme and portfolio (P3) management and launches on the 1^st May 2014.

Until now practitioners have used bodies of knowledge, methodologies, competency frameworks and capability maturity models from different sources that use different taxonomies and terminologies.

This has meant that anyone wishing to use these guides to implement organisation-wide P3 management has had to map them to eliminate overlaps, fill gaps and remove incompatibilities.

Praxis is the first framework to encompass knowledge, method, competence and maturity in a single, integrated and consistent package.

Importantly, Praxis is also completely free and community driven. Users do not need to register to access its content and the aim is to evolve and enhance the framework through practitioner and user contributions.

The framework has been created by Adrian Dooley, an Honorary Fellow of the Association for Project Management who has ensured that the framework is compatible with widely known guides such as the APM Body of Knowledge, PRINCE2® and ISO21500.

Adrian said \”I think it is time that the basic principles of project, programme and portfolio management were available to the \’wikipedia generation\’. I hope that experienced practitioners will tailor the framework and offer their adapted material for inclusion in the framework, thus helping the next generation of P3 managers.\”

At Project Accelerator we are quite excited about this development. The world of project management has too many incompatible project management standards which are jealously guarded by professional bodies.
